New ReviewerMy Discover bank checking balance is 14500. I attempted to withdraw 9k to pay cash to purchase a vehicle from a private seller.
Discover advertises as 24/7 banking. So I called to request a window of time to withdraw the funds via ATM or at a Walmart money services desk. Long story short they approved the window but proceeded to repeatedly reject the transactions. I spoke to them 6 different times (min) and the final excuse was its a security issue we have no control over.
So consumers! You need to understand when you use virtual banks you often cannot access your cash upon request even when there is more than enough balance in your account to cover the requested amount.
Legally they cannot hold your funds but of course they do it anyway. Infuriating!!
User's recommendation: Understand Discover Bank will block your access to any significant amount of cash on any given day including during business hours.
