Discover Bank - Masters of the Merchant Defense/Nickel and Diming Customers
No matter how wrong a merchant is, Discover will almost always side with them in a dispute, on top of this, they will nickel and dime customers, risking alienating/losing them. I ordered a pair of boots from Safety Source of New England, which were way too big for me.
I emailed the merchant, and they told me that I must have ordered the wrong size. I told them that the boots were my size (Size 12), but they were much bigger than my feet. This sorry excuse for a merchant then accused me of trying to get them to refund money for boots that I wore but didn't like. After researching these boots (Rothco 5081 Black Leather Military G.I.
Style 8" Jungle Boots), I found that every other retailer selling these boots, warn consumers to order AT LEAST two sizes smaller than your actual shoe size (As these boots run big). After communicating this to the merchant, I got no reply after several days. I then started a dispute with Discover for the charge. I provided them with the receipt details and the reason for the dispute.
I told them that I would gladly return the boots if the merchant footed the bill for the return postage. Even with all of the other merchant websites stating that the boots run larger than actual size, the emails between me and the merchant and several orders from other merchants for shoes with my correct size displayed, Discover sided with the merchant! The latest kerfuffle took the cake though. I paid my entire Discover card balance.
Overpaid by $100.00 exactly on Sat, May 19, 2017. I then transferred balances from three other cards on Thu, May 25, 2017. With the -$100.00 Balance existing SIX days before I transferred the balances (16435.89), most would figure that the ALREADY existing negative balance would be tabulated first...RIGHT??? Not according to DISCOVER!

Why didn't the already existing -$100.00 cancel $100.00 of the transfer balance? The credit existed BEFORE the transfer. Chicken/egg???

------- Original Message -------- Date : Jun 03, 2017 10:21 PM Subject : Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Other Balance Transfer Questions Accurate according to Discover. You start with a -$100.00 balance, ADD $16445.89 BEFORE subtracting the ALREADY EXISTING -$100.00 balance, charge me $3.00 for MY OWN MONEY (Which this is akin to), THEN subtract the $100.00??? That would be akin to me saying that my $185.00 payment should be subtracted BEFORE the transfer is tallied. ------- Original Message -------- Thank you for your reply.

In the end, it was too bad, so sad, go cry to your dad. Alienating/angering/potentially losing a good customer over THREE DOLLARS!!!
If the fee were a late fee, I wouldn't be here. If the -$100.00 didn't exist WELL BEFORE the transfers, I wouldn't be here.
But because they chose to STEAL MY MONEY...no matter how little, I'm here. The attached photo shows the -$100.00.
Reason of review: Thievery.
Monetary Loss: $36.
Preferred solution: Full refund.
Discover Bank Cons: Almost always side with merchants in disputes, Nickel and dime thievery, Insensitive-uncaring customer service.

Not nickel and dime, more like penny and nickel! Discover actually hit an acquaintance of mine with a late fee for $.08!
Eight cents??? She called for her pay-off total, she paid the entire amount and left the card alone after that.
A month later, she received a statement with a summary showing her payment, an interest charge AFTER her payment and a late fee for not paying EIGHT CENTS!!!.
Discover is the evil of the banking industry in a nutshell.
The invoice cost them more than the eight cents. What a bunch of chodes.
