My daughter lives in Oklahoma and had a Discover Card that she was unable to meet the monthly payments because she lost her job and had to go on disability..She contacted the company to work out a payment plan; the Discover customer service agent suggested he parents pay the bill.

Discover rejected her offer to establish a payment plan and sued her instead. By the time the case was heard in court the company added thousands of dollars in late fees, penalties and interest. She goes to court again early next month; I don't know what the company expects her to do as she and her two children are living on about $800 per month. I am paying her phone and heating bills from my social security checks.

Every chance I get tell others about my daughter's experience with Discover.

I'll never carry a Discover Card.I'm posting this on the Visa Card website as Visa recently purchased Discover.

Had an Experience with Discover Bank?

TB, URmom, and duh, Discover is practicing unethical and illegal sales pratices, added to the fact they will not live up to their agreements as laid out by their own payment protection plan. Before you cast stones, pharisees, get allo the facts.

Are you high? Visa did not purchase Discover Card...

Furthermore, Discover is not under any obligation to forgive payment due to job loss, act of god, or any other inability to pay your OBLIGATION!

Credit is a privilege, not a right.

If you aren't responsible enough to handle credit, get a CHARGE CARD like American Express, where you have no choice but to pay the entire balance every month. Then you only spend what you already have in your bank account.

Take responsibility for your actions. You (or your daughter) spent the money. You OWE THAT MONEY plus Interest, per the CONTRACT you signed.

And every person you tell thinks you are a complete loon and should just pay the money that YOU OWE. YOU OWE THE MONEY. PAY IT.

JUST PAY.

The moral of the story is don't live beyond your means or spend more than you can afford. You either pay the bills on time like every other normal person or get taken to collections or court. Quit whining you big baby.
