Discover charged me $169.50 for a VitalChek order placed on 10/6/25. Only later did I find out delivery is in May of 2026.
Discover refuses to dispute it saying a delivery date was provided. (AFTER THE FACT)!
The date is EIGHT months later! Thats not buyer protection. Thats abandonment of your customers.
This is whats wrong with the system, ordinary people are treated like we dont matter!
You can do everything right but still get punished because big companies & corporate America back each other up. They are in Cahoots! Stay away from Discover & VitalChek.
They are not to be trusted. They will take your money at all costs & screw you over wherever possible!!!

I missed my October Discover credit card statement. Discover Bank immediately sent me to their collection department and refused to waive any fees.
On top of that, when I tried to pay off the entire statement balance, the representative, Casey, even told me there was another $2.46 variation fee that was not even on the statement, in addition to the $36.18 they charged one month when I was sick and missed the statement. This is how they treat a customer who has a credit score of 800+ and has been with them since 1994.
Discover Bank has become worse than a loan shark. I am really beyond disgusted with them.

***** - Discover Credit Card Company is an unscrupulous and lying company! - I purchased a smartphone from a company called Temu 2 months ago and the phone is defective.
Temu and Discover Card and Temu are unscrupulous and unethical and lying companies. I have called Discover Card numerous times and they 'stated' to me that 'the dispute between myself and Temu is officially over' - now both companies are lying to me. Temu refuses to pick up the defective phone. They refuse to send me a replacement phone.
I had called previously to purchasing the phone and Temu 'stated' to me that 'they would pick up any defective products from my residence at no charge or fee.' On May 24th - 2025 - Temu promised and offered me a credit of $53.83 and both companies refuse to cooperate with me.
I will be filing a multitude of complaints against both companies!! - *****

They have still not agreed to release my funds despite my proving my identity and that it is not fraud or money laundering. They still haven't told me why or what allegedly caused them to hold my funds for 61 days.
Also, they can't tell me how holding my funds for 61 days helps protect my account.
They've just found a random way to use their customers money longer without consequence. I won't be able to withdraw my funds for another two weeks.
I contacted Discover to see if the transactions could be stopped, but was told that they couldn't. I advised Discover that these payments were considered excess contributions. Subsequently, a Discover agent advised me to submit two separate 'IRA Distribution Form for Traditional, Roth, and SIMPLE IRAs' forms, and to complete the 'Correction of Excess Contribution for Tax Year' section of the form for 2024 and 2025. I was told that after the funds posted, I would immediately receive the funds.
I was told this by at least two different agents. On 02/05/2025, I received a phone call from another agent who informed me that Discover wouldn't be able to return my funds for 60 days and that they would not honor my requests to return the excess funds until the 61st day after the deposits were made. The person I spoke to made it sound like it was a government rule, but after conducting some research, I discovered that there was no such rule. I contacted Discover again and asked for the IRS rule that necessitates a 60-day hold on my funds, and was informed that it wasn't due to a government rule, but rather their policy.
When I asked for the exact policy or where I can find it to read it for myself, I was given a vague reference to their deposit agreement available on their website. After reading the agreement, I found no policy stating that they can retain my funds for 60 days.
If I ask for my money back, they have no right to withhold it if the funds have been validated and are legitimate. I would not recommend doing business with this bank.

Secured card GARBAGE! I sent them $500 for a secured card and after a few weeks they told me I would get a card in a couple of days, then they contacted me to sign some more papers and after I did they said I had to provide Notarized documents and would about 6 weeks before I could use the card and until then the account is frozen and I can't use my money or the card.
I said just close the account and refund my money...14 Feb 2025 I was told it would take 16 business days since the card was never activated. I called on the 17th business day 28th calendar day and was told that they are gonna keep my money for an additional MONTH.
This business is a scam to use your money without paying you interest! Save yourself the grief DON'T USE THIS BUSINESS!

SO BECAUSE OF ALL THE AGGRAVATION DISCOVER CARD SERVICES GAVE ME A $206.00 CREDIT ISSUED TO MY ACCOUNT BECAUSE THEY KNEW THAT THEY WERE INDEED LYING TO ME AND COMPLETELY WRONG ABOUT ME MAKING A LATE PAYMENT BACK THEN.

My wife and I wanted to get a home equity loan. We both have credit scores in the 800s. We both work and have good incomes. We submitted all of our paperwork over a three-week period. We were told an appraisal was needed on our home. We fully expected that. They sent a real estate agent to our home to take photos only; no appraisal. The realtor loved our home and was highly complimentary of the work we had done previously.
Discover had someone 'appraise' our home from their desk by looking at the county tax legal description and appraised value. Anyone that knows anything about county tax appraisals knows it is not comparable to actual market values of your home (at least not in Texas). This 'appraiser' used comps nowhere close to our home. The home next door to us just sold in June for $415,000 (same number of bedrooms and bathrooms, 100' larger).
Our home was valued at $252,000 (we have more land, patios, out-buildings, etc.) which was the value given by the County Tax Office.
We asked the Discover representative to send out an actual appraiser and they would see that the value of our home is much more. They refused, saying 'we don't do that. We go by the county tax record only'. We offered to pay for an appraiser (in normal cases, we would have anyway). They still refused and said they would only honor the county tax evaluation and legal description. So, after we spent hours submitting documents to them, this ended our pursuit of a loan with Discover.
We have never experienced any type of home loan, home equity loan or second mortgage loan in our 46+ year marriage without an actual appraiser evaluating the property (in person) for the actual market value!
We were seeking a $50,000 loan. We only owe $188,000 on our home. The market value of our home is in the high $400,000-low $500,000's but we can't get Discover to send out an actual appraiser.
We will never attempt to do any business with Discover again!

I have always thought that discover credit card were pretty good until recently.
I have started getting cash advance charges for some things I buy. I had never gotten them before.
When I called about it they barefaced lied about it. First they tried to sic me on pay pal and I don't even have an account. I called back and they gave me another company that was the culprit. I called them, and they assured me that they never charge a fee of any kind those come from the bank.
I called discover once again and the sent me back to the supervisors. They told me that the cash advances had come from them,but she could give me credit for 2 of them. I said, so what your telling me is that you arbitrarily start charging fees but if someone catches you you will give them back. She said yes kind of.
I said it sounded like a silly way to run a business. She said she doesn't make the rules and laughed. She said she could credit 2 of the charges but I would have to call again for the rest.
When I did a person started yelling at me and hung up. I called her boss a the process is on going.
User's recommendation: Don't let people steal you money, either through dishonesty or incompetence.

- No access to my checking account - 2 bank accounts that were connected - fifth third bank and huntington bank checking accounts have also been disconnected and denied access by discover bank when tried to reconnect. - Debit Card is not working = no access to my money I tried calling discover bank in january several times, but due to over 10/20 min. wait time I was never allowed to speak with a real person. Due to serious health problems for better/cheaper health treatment on January 28th.
I moved to Poland (europe) until August, 2024, and it has become completely impossible to reach someone from discover bank - 7 hours time difference, expensive international calls from neighbors home phone. | still tried whenever fit and called at least 4 different times over the last several weeks. Just like in November, 2023, also on Jan. 29th.

I simply gave up! THERE SHOULD BE MORE THAN $500 ON MY ACCOUNT, BUT BY NOW IT IS ALL PROBABLY STOLEN. I FEEL SCAMMED AND BULLIED BY DISCOVER BANK.
Today is Monday, March 25th. 2024, I expect and demand from discover bank to unlock and provide me legit and safe access to my checking account within 24 hours, so I can finally withdraw my own money to another bank.

My Discover bank checking balance is 14500. I attempted to withdraw 9k to pay cash to purchase a vehicle from a private seller.
Discover advertises as 24/7 banking. So I called to request a window of time to withdraw the funds via ATM or at a Walmart money services desk. Long story short they approved the window but proceeded to repeatedly reject the transactions. I spoke to them 6 different times (min) and the final excuse was its a security issue we have no control over.
So consumers! You need to understand when you use virtual banks you often cannot access your cash upon request even when there is more than enough balance in your account to cover the requested amount.
Legally they cannot hold your funds but of course they do it anyway. Infuriating!!

I recently had the most astonishingly terrible customer service experience with Discover, and I feel compelled to share my story to warn others about the shocking lack of empathy and assistance I encountered.
Despite being in the Executive Office of Customer Advocacy, Joseph and the Discover team openly acknowledged their ability to address a late payment issue but callously declared they were "unwilling" to do so. This response, or lack thereof, left me questioning if their role truly encompasses advocating for the consumer.
The complete disinterest in resolving my concerns reflected poorly on Discover's commitment to its customers.
It is abundantly clear that they have zero regard for their customers as individuals. This has undeniably been the worst customer service experience I have ever encountered.
I want to emphasize that I will not rest until this unfortunate experience with Discover's customer service is widely known. It is my responsibility to ensure that others are made aware of the lack of support and empathy they may encounter as Discover customers.
Discover's handling of my situation has been nothing short of a disgrace, and I implore others to reconsider choosing them for their financial needs. No customer should be subjected to such callous treatment, especially when it could have been a straightforward matter for them to do the right thing.

Discover Bank robbery x2
Robbed me twice, courtesy of Discover Bank. Online accounts were hacked/compromised.
Found unauthorized transactions on my checking debit card. Called & went through fraud protection, filed a police report, & asked for ALL of my accounts to be locked. This request was also recorded by Discover. 2 hours later an unauthorized transfer of 7k was taken from my savings account.
Notified Discover, filed police report, etc. Discover now says they couldn't retrieve the UNAUTHORIZED transfer so tough *** Are they not FDIC insured as they claim? Is their online security so bad they cannot prevent this? Are their online reps so confused that my last call was transferred to (7) different people with no resolution?
If you have any hope of KEEPING your hard earned money do NOT, repeat DO NOT, put it in any Discover Bank accounts!!! Please learn from experience, dont be a victim like Discover has made me!
